Switching Realms

My first two novels were, as you know, paranormal romances that created a fantasy world for my readers  to experience. I enjoy writing paranormal stories because it gives me a chance to explore my imagination, and in the case of the Aradia Series, use my study of the Aegean Bronze Age and love of Greek history and mythology as a way of expanding, if you will, a world that has been long lost to us. What world am I speaking of? Our imagination.  In a world where we have become so dependent on technology and computers pretty much control our everyday decisions, I believe that in the quest for advancement of our society, we, as a generation, have lost the desire to explore the beauty of the world we live in and have gotten so caught up in the day to day chores of our lives.

Writing a fantasy-paranormal romance gives me the chance to let my mind run free and create a story that I hope you will enjoy and let your imagination paint the picture of the world I have created for you to experience through my words.

Now, with that being said, I have strayed from the world of Aradia and am now in the process of writing my first contemporary romance. If you have visited my facebook page, then you already know about Lucille and Nathan and have seen several sneak peeks from my current novel.  It is more on the erotic side of romance than my first two novels, even though the Aradia Series has its share of steamy love scenes, this one is, well, an experiment of sorts to challenge the writer in me.

Of course, I'm not giving up on paranormal. I already have notes and scene ideas for the third book in the Aradia Series, and there will be five books in that series with possible supplementals, like the immortalizing of Pagan, and maybe the creation of the guardians of life. SO, ARADIA FANS, DO NOT DESPAIR! The story will continue.

I'm merely switching realms for a bit, that's all.

Happy Halloween

In honor of All Hallow's Eve, here is a passage from "To Mend a Halfling's Soul"

Rhea stood at the entrance of the cave. She hadn't stepped foot on Greek soil in thousands of years, but here she was about to do something that was going to make her Zeus' enemy. She slowly entered the cave known as Charonium, a cavern that held an entrance to the underworld. It hadn't been used in centuries and the lack of settlements around it was proof it was a forgotten place to man. Deep within was Aornum, the entrance to the underworld and a way for her to put her plan in motion.

The goddess walked cautiously till she reached the dark opening that was her destination. The poisonous fumes filled the air, leaving a foul smell to ward off intruders. The fumes had no affect on her except to cause her to cover her mouth and nose to keep the hideous odor from assaulting her senses.

She stepped into the opening and leaned against the cold rock wall. She looked around to make sure no one else was around. She didn't expect to see anyone, but she had to be cautious. The darkness was shielding her presence. The only deity that was close at hand was Hades and she wanted to make sure she didn't alert any guards he may have placed in and about the known entrances to his realm.

It didn't take long before she could sense the evil that resided below. It swelled with intense hatred and she realized with great relief that finding the souls to do her bidding was going to be easier than she had thought. The underworld was overrun with souls that Zeus did not allow to be reborn for one reason or another, and below them were the evil ones that stirred in Tartarus with her brothers that Zeus had imprisoned for fighting against him.

Rhea raised her arms in the air and formed a silver swirling mist in front of her. She stepped into it and reemerged at the bronze fence that surrounded the prison for the damned. She knelt before it and removed a gold dagger from underneath her black chiton. Her long white hair touched the cold dark ground and she used one hand to pull it over her shoulder to drape across her chest.

She held the handle of the gold weapon and thrust it into the dirt. A shimmer of white light burst before her eyes and swished around her kneeling body. It twirled and danced around her and she smiled at the power surge that flowed through her. It had been a long time since she used her immortal abilities, and the immense thrill that  coursed through her veins sent a chill of anticipation whirling up her spine.

Rhea pushed the dagger a little deeper into the ground and a small crevasse appeared below the bronze fence. With each passing second, the crease she created in the soil deepened and widened to the point souls could escape. She rose to stand before the bronze barrier and she placed her hands upon it. She closed her eyes and willed the evil to come to her. She needed as many as she could get to do her bidding, and to her amazement, one hundred evil souls heeded her call. One by one they squeezed underneath their prison wall and gathered around her, waiting to be given their new duty.

Rhea formed an image of the daughter of the chosen souls to appear in the center of her new army. They began to move closer to the transparent apparition and each began to howl, as they understood Rhea's command. They hurriedly twisted with excitement and bounced off the walls of the cave. They were only masses of pure energy, but they were dark, menacing balls of malevolent life.

She pointed toward the exit of their hell. Go, find her and destroy her.
They swarmed in toward the image of their target and busted through it to make it dissipate and fall into a thousand white sparkles.

Time Doesn't Stand Still

It has been awhile since I have been on here and I do apologize for that. As the title suggests, time doesn't stand still for anyone. We all get caught up in our day to day lives and sometimes there are factors that dictate how our time is spent. This is such the case for me.

My father has been battling cancer since the late spring and I was (and still am) needed to help with the care of my father. It has been a tough journey for him and it seems to be a journey that he is mastering.  He has one more chemo treatment to go and he should be in the clear after that.  But in the mean time, we are taking things day by day. We have gotten to a point where I am able to get back to my writing and I have done some research for the 3rd book in the Aradia Series as well as moving forward in my contemporary romance titled,  Unfolding Lucy.

For those of you who are waiting for the 3rd Aradia book, please, be patient with me. I'm not going to be able to get it published this fall like I had hoped and it may be the summer of 2015 before it will be available.  It will be worth the wait, I will say that, and, we will have an oracle born.  Her name will be Anaklothei (pronounced  ana-clo-they).  It is ancient Greek and the literal meaning is - she changes one's destiny.  Richard and Fauna will be her parents, but in a reincarnation of their souls as Darren and Phoebe.

I hope each and everyone of you are blessed with a healthy life and all your  days are filled with exploring this wonderful world we all call home.

A Pawn of the Gods

A Pawn of the Gods is the first book in the Aradia Series and starts the series as well as sets up the plot for the ending of the series in the epilogue.

Fauna and Richard are the main characters, and as the title suggests, they are not completely in control of their own destinies.  The Olympian gods play an important role in the series and their interaction with the characters increases with each book. In this book, the interaction is minimal and their presences is not known to the main characters until the last few chapters. Why, you may ask? Well, to make the point that we are not always in control of our lives, that there are forces that are beyond our control that effect the decisions we make and the actions of others can change the course or the path we may have chosen to undertake. But given the interference by the gods, is it possible for two people to overcome the odds stacked against them and find the deep love that developed between them be enough to  allow them to stay together?
To answer that question you have to read the book.

Hello

Hello and welcome to my world. I am Kata Lexin, a romance novelist, and the author of the Aradia Series. Here you will find more detailed information about the novels I write and get insight on what goes on in the mind of an author as story lines form in the mind, more specifically, my mind.

One thing you should be aware of is my novels are "Romance Novels" and contain sexual content meant for mature audiences over the age of 18. Please bear this in mind as you read my blog and do not encourage minors to read my novels. As adults, we have an obligation to protect our children, not only by the laws set forth in this country, the United States, but by our duty as the guardians of the young.

Now, with that being said, let me give a heart-felt thank you to all my readers who have downloaded my novels and to those who have taken the time to give feedback reviews and ratings. So far all the ratings I have seen have been 5 stars. I am truly grateful for this and am happy to see that my novels have been accepted with such a worldwide response. And when I say worldwide, I mean worldwide. Between the two books in the Aradia Series, I have seen downloads in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden, Switzerland, Portugal, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Malaysia. This response was most unexpected, but extremely welcomed. I never dreamed my words would ever reach so many people. Thank you, again, for taking a chance on an unknown author, and giving her(me) the chance to create a world for you to read about.
